Steel Cut Porridge Oats
1 cup Organic Steel Cut Oats
2 cups Milk of your coice
1 tsp Coconut Oil
Pinch of Sea Salt
Fresh Berries, Chia Jam, Nut Butter, Honey and/or Cinnamon to serve
- In order to reduce cooking time you can soak the oats overnight in 2 cups of water and then just add milk and a pinch of salt and cook until soft. For extra flavour we like to toast the oats first, so add unsoaked oats to a pot on medium heat with the coconut oil and stir continuously until toasted and fragrant.
- Then add the milk, 2 cups of water and a pinch of sea salt. Bring to the boil and then simmer until tender and creamy. Some like it chewy and some prefer very tender, so continue to cook until you are happy with the texture.
- Serve with anything you like, we like a sprinkle of cinnamon, a drizzle of honey and some berries or chia jam.
