Toor dhal has a smooth & creamy texture, similar to Yellow Split Peas. Whole toor lentils are yellow with tan jackets. They have a mild, nutty flavour, & often cooked as a side dish or ground into flour. Toor dal/dahl is the most popular lentil in India. They are also called Thuvaram paruppu/kandhi pappu often served as a side dish or tossed into soups.
